Carrie Hansen, owner & teacher
Why I teach: The first years of a child's life are so important. Music is a powerful way to encourage a child's language, expression, coordination, concentration, and creativity--it touches every single aspect of a child's development. I truly believe in the power of high quality early childhood experiences and that's why I'm so passionate about working with young children.
I am a Nebraska-certified K-12 music educator, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Education degree in vocal & instrumental music from Wayne State College in 1996. I've taught K-12 band & choir and taught private lessons, and served as a judge for conference music contests. Later, I moved to San Jose, California, where I performed as an ensemble member and soloist with the San Jose State University Chorus under the direction of Dr. Elena Sharkova, before returning to Nebraska.
Additionally, I hold 18 graduate hours in early childhood education and administration from Concordia University, and hold a certificate in Early Care & Education Management Training. I have worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers as a teacher and as an administrator at a nationally-accredited center; and I have worked with college students as well as adult learners. In addition to teaching music classes, I am a teacher at the UNL Children's Center. Like you, I'm a parent--my daughter keeps me on my toes and inspires me.
I love teaching music, and I would be honored to work with your child. If you have questions, please email or give me a call -- I’d love to connect with you.
