Carrie Hansen, owner & teacher
The first years of a child's life are so important. Music is a powerful way to encourage a child's language, expression, coordination, concentration, and creativity--it touches every aspect of a child's development. I truly believe in the power of high quality early childhood experiences and that's why I'm so passionate about working with very young children.
In addition to teaching at Itty Bitty Musik, I teach full-time at the UNL Children's Center. I am a Nebraska-certified teacher K-12 music educator, having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Education in vocal and instrumental music from Wayne State College in 1996, where I studied under Dr. Cornell Runestad, Dr. Frederick Hanna (now of Creighton University) and Dr. Craig Hancock (now of Wartburg College). I've taught K-12 band & choir and taught private lessons, and served as a judge for conference music contests. Later, I moved to San Jose, California, where I performed as an ensemble member and soloist with the San Jose State University Chorus under the direction of Dr. Elena Sharkova, before returning to Nebraska.
Additionally, I hold 18 graduate hours in early childhood education and administration from Concordia University, and hold a certificate of completion in Early Care & Education Management Training. I have worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers as a child care teacher and as as an administrator at a nationally-accredited center; and I have worked with college students as well as adult learners. Like you, I'm a parent. My elementary-aged daughter keeps me on my toes and inspires me.
I love teaching music, and I would be honored to work with your child. If you have questions, please email or give me a call -- I’d love to connect with you.
